from the 20052006 & 2008 pages of my new site! for spanish speaking mcrmy. mcr toured many spanish speaking countries in 2008 as well as brazil and I thought it might mean something more to spanish or portuguese speaking mcr fans out there to have access to these so wanted to make this post! I wanted to get all the scans that were old on mcrhollywood. they’ve been up a long time (since 2011 a lot of them) and I don’t think it would be the worst thing if it were on here too.
11/30/2009 interview with steve baltin of spinner.com
“After going the concept route – or at least making a linear work on ‘The Black Parade’ – My Chemical Romance are going in another direction on their forthcoming album, due early next year. Spinner visited the group in their L.A. studio to get an early preview and we were left suitably blown away by the nine very disparate songs we got to hear. The tracks ranged from the atmospheric ‘Light Before Your Eyes,’ a song frontman Gerard Way describes as Pink Floyd-ish, to the ’80s-flavored ‘Trans Am’ and the punk/dance party tune, ‘Death Before Disco,’ which starts off with a Judas Priest ‘Living After Midnight’ vibe and turns into a lyrical salute to the Stooges, Velvet Underground and MC5.
Way tells Spinner the as-yet-untitled album is a definite answer to ‘The Black Parade.’ “Every single record we make is a response to the last,” he says. “But sometimes it’s not only a response to the last record – it’s a response to the opinion of that record or a response to the world at the time of that record.”
What he sees and documents on the new album is a lot of rockers who are in music for the wrong reason. “There’s a definite undercurrent of fame versus working class, people having stuff handed to them with zero talent versus working class kids that start a band,” he says. “Rock ‘n’ roll is not red carpets and MySpace friends – rock ‘n’ roll is dangerous and rock ‘n’ roll should piss people off. Right now, there’s not a lot of that happening. What it is is a lot of people trying to be famous. That seems to be the goal.”
In Way’s opinion, that desire to be famous is messing up the sanctity of rock “n roll. “It’s bled into rock. It came from other places, but it’s bled into rock ‘n’ roll and kind of tainted it a bit,” Way says. “This record is really a response to that as well.”
MCR certainly have the resources and notoriety to bask in that fame as well, so how do they resist that temptation? “Instead of us panicking and trying to see where we can grab the money or grab the opportunity, we just wrote music instead,” Way says. “We tried to write a great record; that was our response to things. I think that writing a great record will sell records these days, as opposed to doing every other f—ing thing that people seem to be doing to sell a record.”

“mikey way
“me and gerard, we’re the best friends in the world”
Once again, we meet Mikey Way. But this time this guy talks soooooo much. Hi hi hi! Never thought Mikey could be this chatty!
Long coat and black jeans, that’s the outfit worn by Mikey Way when he met W at the Malia Hotel, Thursday afternoon, January 31, 2008. Wow, he looked really neat. But when watching MCR’s concert a few hours later, it turned out that Mikey was also wearing the same costume, he he he. It’s very clear that his long coat and all-black jeans are not just a style but an important part of his identity.
Anyway… Mikey looked relaxed as he shook hands with W. As a small talk, W of course asked him what he thought about Jakarta. He answered honestly. “So far, great. But I haven’t been here long. Only 12 hours, only half a day. So, you know.”He said as he took a large white plastic cup of coffee from the table in front of him. His hands looked a little shaky.
Gosh, Mikey, the conversation has become so serious, huh, he he he. W reminds me that the name My Chemical Romance was taken from one of the books Mikey read when he was still working at Barnes & Noble bookstore, namely Ecstasy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance by Irvine Welsh. mentioned by Mikey, here. Wow, it seems so funny to imagine Mikey being a bookworm, huh? Apart from Gerard being the vocalist and frontman of My Chem, he is still Mikey’s ‘big brother’. So, let’s just start asking about Gerard, shall we?
Mmm, maybe we can start with a question that’s not too direct, huh…
What’s the most annoying thing about Gerard?
“Him? There’s nothing bad about him. Even if there’s something annoying, it makes me love him even more. Ha ha. Even if there’s something bad about him, it’s endearing. Gera is a very talented and admirable individual.”
What is the annoying side of you in Gerard’s eyes?
“Me? Well, I don’t know. Ha ha. Maybe you guys better ask Gerard directly, haha ha.”
Have you two ever fought?
“We have. It’s natural. But not too often. In a few years maybe.”
Can you tell us a little bit about how you and Gerard are actually brothers? what kind?
“We’re the best friends in the world. We always hang out together. We always talk. Especially when we’re on tour, we always share a room in a hotel.only once we fought, ha ha ha. We barely fight.”
Do you still have time to read a book?
“Yes, I still am. Right now I’m reading Needful Things by Stephen King. This is actually my second time reading it, he he he.”
Wow, you really like horror stories, huh?
“Ha ha ha, yes. I like horror novels and also horror movies. Stephen King is a great horror writer. Many of his books are horror themed. I really like Stephen King.”
From early on, it seemed like Gerard did most of the talking.
“I only talk when necessary. Not only me, Frank, Bob and Ray have also. But more often than not we have to take care of our own musical instruments, so we leave that responsibility to Gerard, he he he.”
Totally agree, Mikey Unfortunately, Gerard isn’t there, hu hu hu!
On stage, Gerard is the same. Have you ever joined in the conversation with the audience?
“Well, yes sure. I have.”
Anyway, really happy to chat with you. Lately, MCR has been using piano players a lot at concerts, huh?
“We do everything like other big bands do.”
Are there plans to make James Dewees a permanent member of MCR?
Oh, James. He’s already becomeMy Chem family member since ama. Even though he is not a member of MCR, he is our friend. We have also known him for a long time. Besides, we like the sound of our concert piano. So, we keep using it.
Why, the hell, is the sound of the piano so important to MCR?
“Piano is the basis for all music. Since we know a cool piano player like James Dewees, we might as well include him in the line-up. Unfortunately, James is currently at sound check, so he can’t be here.”
My Chem, that’s how Mikey shortens the name My Chemical Romance. Frankly, W also knows nothing, he he he. When asked when My Chem (yikes, I’m following Mikey) will release a new album, Mikey said it would be around early or mid 2009. Wow, that’s still quite a long time away, huh. When W asked about My Chem’s three previous albums, this guy remained enthusiastic, cas cis cus.(?)
Tell us about the metamorphosis from the first to the third album…
“Sure sure”
Album: Bullets
“We were still very young. We were in our early 20s and we had only been in the band for about 10 months. Every song that was created at that time was indeed in accordance with our condition at that time. If you listen to it, you will definitely feel the nuances of My Chem now. The songs on the first album are like ‘the younger brother ofThe Black Parade,
Is the creative process different?
“Let’s see… The first album, / was really green, he he he. Gerard was also very young. We felt more spontaneous. The second album, Three Cheers… was more mature, more aggressive. The longer it went on, the clearer it became in The Black Parade. The difference was probably with the presence of Bob on drums. He is one of the phenomenal drummers. Many people say so. Because of Bob, The Black Parade seemedtouching on many musical genres.”
What if someone says that The Black Parade sounds smoother than previous albums?
“Technically, yes. The first album was made in the basement. The sound was rough. But eventually we had a bigger studio and had more time to prepare the material.”

“azcentral.com has a new article about MCR’s Performance at the Tempe Music Festival…
By Kellie Hwang
The last time I saw My Chemical Romance perform was in 2005, at a secret show in an underground venue in London. There were only 200 people and the band put on a stellar show, but it got so intense that three kids were sent to the hospital mid-concert.The fans at the My Chem show on Friday night at Tempe Beach Park were just as energetic but not nearly as brutal, and the band again, did not disappoint. My Chemical Romance’s success has skyrocketed since its formation in 2001, and the release of 2006’s The Black Parade put the band on a whole new level. The rock quintet has been touring nonstop ever since, becoming pros at live concerts.Way stepped out to hundreds of screaming girls on the beautiful spring night, his jet black hair perfectly mussed up. He might be one of the few people that can pull off a denim jacket, denim vest and denim skinny jeans together. My Chem tore into a blazing performance of I’m Not Okay, Way immediately dominating the crowd’s attention with his wailing vocals and charismatic stage presence. The energy didn’t quit, and the band immediately threw out This Is How I Disappear. Guitarist Ray Toro scorched in his corner throughout the show, looking like a mix of Slash and Claudio Sanchez with his blanket of curly hair.Way’s effeminate yet powerful gestures were a highlight, and his theatrical side came out during Mama when he slumped over his mic and started to pseudo cry.One thing that always makes a My Chem show so successful is Way’s ability to have a routine in mind but appear completely spontaneous.During Welcome To The Black Parade, Way shamelessly requested the crowd to sing and the thousands of fans happily obliged. Way’s voice sounded strained and forced him to lower an octave and share the mic.Way quickly recovered with Kill All Your Friends, a track that didn’t make the cut on The Black Parade, and sent the crowd into a frenzy. Another memorable track was Teenagers and the band was joined by a bandana-wearing crew member who played the harmonica. Way closed the show with an emotional solo performance of Cancer. Standing beneath a deep red light, his voice quivered through the lyrics, and aside from the occasional scream, the audience was silent.Puddle of Mudd’s performance before My Chem was mediocre. The sound quality was great, and the band powered through each track straying little from the album versions. Which is a good and a bad thing. There wasn’t much spark or movement from the band members, and singer Wes Scantlin stayed planted in front of the mic strumming his guitar and showing off his pearly whites for the majority of the set.His corny jokes didn’t help the performance, and his frequent attempts to be Kurt Cobain were distracting. But She Hates Me and Psycho got the audience reciting the lyrics and were delivered with an energy that lacked otherwise.Unplanned, My Chem came out quickly after its last song for an encore number before the midnight curfew. Ending with the very appropriate song, Helena, the band said so long and goodnight to the very blissful crowd.

gerard way lecture at sva 2008
“I was there too yesterday, with my friend. We were the two Russian girls that raised our hands.
I thought the Detroit thing was really funny. We were laughing about that a lot later.
I asked the question about meeting one person in history. I remember he scrunched up his face in that trademark way of his for that one. Haha. And the answer was just, so cute.My friend asked the question about what his favorite font is. He got really excited about that one. The first time he’s been asked that!
He mentioned Trajan and Futura Bold as his favorite fonts. Everyone was like, please don’t say “Comic Sans”. Lol. He said something about a Fiesta font too. And Serif and Sans serif. (Forget which one he said he liked)
And Alex Toth-that was the artist he mentioned as his biggest inspiration. “I will always be chasing that…”I forget though, what was that Comic book that he mentioned as “changing his life”. It was issues 00 and 01 that he specified.Omgosh, and X-Men! He bought the issue with Wolverine Crucified on the cover. And he was saying how, being Catholic, his parents weren’t going to like that. Lol.Oh, and my favorite quote from the evening was, (It just really spoke to me, I guess, because I hope to go to SVA next year. I recently got accepted! )“You have to live, breathe, eat, shit art” or at least, it was something along those lines.

“Article By Christina Fuoco-Karasinski
Normally a preppy college town baked in desert heat, Tempe, Arizona was bathed in darkness Friday night thanks to the black-clad denizens who descended upon Tempe Beach Park for My Chemical Romance’s tour kickoff. The band eschewed their black-and-white Black Parade uniforms for casual street clothing and tore through a ninety-minute set that focused primarily on 2006’s The Black Parade. However, the New Jersey-based band, playing as part of the two-day Circle K Tempe Music Festival, went back to their 2004 breathrough album Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge for its opening and closing numbers: impassioned versions of breakout hits “I’m Not Okay (I Promise)” and “Helena,” respectively.Frontman Gerard Way gains a little more confidence with each passing tour, and for this show he channeled the spirit of Mick Jagger: shimmying across the stage, stopping to wiggle his hips on a catwalk that projected into the mosh pit. During “This Is How I Disappear,” his bassist brother Mikey Way (wearing a fantastic T-shirt that announced, “Mikey Fuckin Way”) violently shook his head as Gerard encouraged the audience to raise their right hands.“Thanks for coming out to the fucking rock show,” Gerard said while introducing “Dead!” “Are you all ready to die?” Luckily, nobody bit the dust before the band closed the show in mid-tour form. The group that began in garages in New Jersey has graduated to one of the top arena acts in the country, and its members wear it awfully well. The kids, as they say, are all right.”

Scream Queens was excellent tonight.
It was nice to see Lindsay make a comeback and get more comfortable with her acting, though we felt Michelle did the best job on both challenges. Tanedra didn’t have her best week but we were glad to see she made it to the GAUNTLET! Whatever the hell that is, it looks exciting.
I dare say it’s the best reality show on television.
Some people might argue that Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew is better but that show is so damn good I don’t even classify it as reality TV-
and who doesn’t want to give Steven Adler a hug?
I also realized I have been calling Real Chance of Love “real chance @ love”. I didn’t realize there was a difference. This show almost lost me but this week wasn’t bad, I was basically waiting for Scream Queens (I would call that “reverse piggy-backing”, see my post on PUA2). But next weeks episode- that looks exciting. I definitely saw Real break a bottle over some dude’s head.
I mean, overall, who gives a shit? I’m gonna listen to Chinese Democracy again.“

Some of you, who have seen my twitter about wanting a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am, may be asking yourselves, “Is this for real?”
And my answer to you is one-hundred percent MFR (“Mad Fucking Real” for short).
Some of you may be asking, “Why?” , so I provided this photograph to answer your questions, and if you need further persuasion-
Quite simply, I need the vehicle for “research and exploration”. I will be researching the high-voltage hydra known as the 9th dimension , I will be exploring the barriers of speed and time, the history of heavy-metal haircuts, and the 24-Hr rest-stop cappuccino.
I will be chasing the “electric-manticore”, and unlocking the riddle of “Muscle Mystery” in this muscle-machine, and it will most likely occur in the desert.
Now that I’ve assuaged your curiosity, here’s what I’m looking for, more or less, and some might think I’m picky, but I think you should be picky when looking for such an important piece of scientific equipment.
***What I want*** First and foremost, I want a good car. It doesn’t have to be great, it doesn’t need to have been kept in an airtight garage for 30 years, but I would prefer something that’s not a piece of shit. I would like it to be in California, close to or within the greater Los Angeles area. I would also like “the fast engine” to show you how much I know about cars, though I have friends with vast automotive knowledge, and my father was a mechanic when I was a child. I want it to run, run well, and have no rust. Oh and it needs to be an automatic, as I can’t drive stick (suprise!).
***Colors and specifics*** Exteriors (in order of awesome): Silver, the color of steel, and the eye of the falcon. Faded, slightly shitty, or semi-bombed out looking Nocturne Blue. This color looks great with some age. Mad-Max Black. Shitty bombed-out Red/Orange
Obviously I am looking for something with a bit of character but I will settle for better shape for a better car.
I am open to other things but I absolutely do not want Gold, Brown, or that frigging Smokey and The Bandit car- that shit is whack.
Interiors (again in “awesome order”) Red leather (combined with a silver exterior is an ideal car for me- like a fucking Mach-5 red-velvet cupcake with Terminator 2 frosting) Black leather (of course) Blue (cuz it’s cool, but this limits what I can paint the exterior if I choose to do so) Interior material is not as much a deal breaker as a bad color.
I’ve seen the “Anniversary Edition” ‘79 Trans and I like it but something about the silver leather interior rubs me weird. Looks like pudding, and a light color will only stain when I shit my pants as I tear-ass through scorched earth.
T-Tops a BIG plus.
All of this stuff I am semi-flexible on, as I just want a great car, but I think I will know the right one when I see it.
***Important*** No scams or hustles. I won’t have cash on me, and I’m not important enough to kidnap, but if you’ve got the right car and the right “vibe” I can find us someone important enough to kidnap together- IN-THE-CAR-YOU-JUST-SOLD-ME. Like, for example, the Jonas Brothers. I have been on T.V. and I have access.
You bring the ‘bird- I’m bringing “British Steel” by Judas Priest.
xo g
PS- Thanks for everyone’s help thus far- you guys are great. I will be looking in the twitter replies for leads. ***Update*** I have noticed that some people are wondering if I am having a mid-life crisis or asking why I am not buying a station wagon or something for a baby. Answers! Firstly, I am only 31, so I have a bit of time before that whole “crisis” thing, and secondly- I’ve run the numbers on car safety and have come to the conclusion that this IS the car for the baby. This thing is a tank. Usually, when people get into accidents while driving a Trans Am they usually ask “How is the other guy?”. Trust me. I got this.“

When My Chemical Romance visited South America with their world tour last February and we learned that Chile and Argentina were included in the tour, we perfectly understood that thousands of fans would fulfill their dream of seeing their favorite band live, however, not all of them could attend the event, and for that reason, when we found out that the CD+DVD The Black Parade is Dead! would be arriving in record stores on July 5th, we got our act together and got ex-clusive tickets for the launch.
